This is how we do Gay Marriage law in New Zealand <3
Tell me you’re jealous of the pink pants my mom got me today.
This, this is the reason that majority of the community hate us, can’t you just be gay without fitting into the stereotypes or without your mother enabling you? Blue, green, yellow, grey, black, red, brown, orange - there are so many other colours you could wear, you wear pink. I can’t walk down the street holding my boyfriends hand because the rest of you set these images into the public’s mind of what being gay is “pink, fairy, glitter, faggots”… Which I MUST be because I’m gay. Cheers for making it harder for me to live a normal life.
Vent over.
^^^^^^
I’ll just leave this for you all to see.And here we have a very sad homosexual. One of the gays who probably say, “There are gays and then there are faggots.”
This is what internalized homophobia looks like, yall. Fun fact: a societal expectation to assimilate in order to avoid fitting a stereotype is STILL inequality for the LGBTQ community.
Being a straight acting/passing gay is NOT superior to being a more “stereotypical” gay person. You do you, and don’t let anyone give you shit for it either way.
Cool Story Bro of the Day: Minnesota Man’s Argument Against Marriage Equality
Today’s weird argument against marriage equality is brought to you by Minnesota resident Mike Frey, who seems to be assured that (straight) women’s private parts have the magical ability to block HIV with a cellular tissue-based “barrier.” Bathing in ignorance before the State House’s legislative committee, Frey further goes on to single out sodomy as the cause of AIDS and warns of other possible diseases that could be spread by gay people.
This actually made me laugh out loud. Aside from iffy science, I think this man is under the impression that homosexuals take vows of celibacy for life if they can’t be legally married in their home state. Uhhh… sure.
Plus, the idea that making sex between men illegal because the health risks would be a “financial burden on the people of Minnesota to be able to support all the diseases that come out of this” is ridiculous because that logic could be used to ban ALL sex in order to lower the cost of having to pay for ANY medication for STDs at all. So where do you draw the line? Right where it supports your preexisting ideas of morality. Duh!
Oh, and way to forget about lesbians. They still have that HIV-blocking vagina barrier, right?! Three cheers for scissoring!
Boy Scouts To Try Out Single Gay 12-Year-Old Before Making Decision: Full Story
“Today, same-sex couples are marrying, under the law, in Massachusetts. Some gays are actually having children born to them. We’ve been asked to change their birth certificates to remove the phrase ‘mother’ and ‘father’ and replace it with ‘parent A’ and ‘parent B.’ It’s not right on paper. It’s not right in fact. Every child has the right to have a mother and father.”
You know what, Mittens? You’re right. From now on, let’s take away the children of single parents and place them into two-parent foster homes, because your belief that the law should only allow children to have a mother and a father is definitely not just an excuse for your ignorance.
When these messages that gay people are unfit or undeserving are out in the media, those sentiments affect the opinions of far too many ignorant people. Where do you think gay youth get the idea into their heads that they’re inferior to straight people? Is it really a surprise with all of this floating around that gay youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide that straight people their age? [x] Sorry if you think this sounds melodramatic, but politicians like Mitt Romney who make statements like these have blood on their hands.
I wish my moderate Republican friends would simply be honest. They all say they’re voting for Romney because of his economic policies (tenuous and ill-formed as they are), and that they disagree with him on gay rights. Fine. Then look me in the eye, speak with a level clear voice, and say, ‘My taxes and take-home pay mean more than your fundamental civil rights, the sanctity of your marriage, your right to visit an ailing spouse in the hospital, your dignity as a citizen of this country, your healthcare, your right to inherit, the mental welfare and emotional well-being of your youth, and your very personhood.’ It’s like voting for George Wallace during the Civil Rights movements, and apologizing for his racism. You’re still complicit. You’re still perpetuating anti-gay legislation and cultural homophobia. You don’t get to walk away clean, because you say you ‘disagree’ with your candidate on these issues.
so some of you may have seen this post going around, referring to a supposed bill about to be passed in California that legalizes gay conversion therapy.
I’m here to let you all know, that the bill, in fact, does the opposite. it bans anti-gay therapy, and the petition is asking the governor to sign it.
I’m disappointed that so many people simply clicked the link and signed the petition to leave an angry comment, without even reading the small paragraph description that correctly explains the situation.
So, please stop talking about how horrible California is and how you’re totally moving to Canada over this, because the bill you are ranting and raving about is something you actually support.
Thanks, and try not to be so stupid next time and actually learn what you’re petitioning for.
Sorry, guys! I reblogged this yesterday, and I honestly glossed over the Tumblr post and read about the bill on AllOut.org. For the record, I did understand what the bill was actually about, which is evidenced by this Tweet of mine. Either way, signing the petition is a good thing. Just do what I did, and direct your comment at Gov. Brown, asking him TO SIGN the bill.
For the record, I just changed the words “officially legalizing” to “banning” in my post from yesterday, so it should be fine now.
While looking at the Facebook page this photo links to, I saw this comment:
Matt Jenkins Before posting anymore “clever” images, do this instead: Put gun in mouth. Pull trigger. There, Facebook will be cleaned up in a matter of days, and we can get back to LOLcats.
I clicked on Matt Jenkins to see what kind of person would possibly tell the poster to commit suicide over this photo, and he says he is a school teacher in Texas. Abso-fucking-lutely wonderful. I hope all his students hate him and do not see him as a role model whatsoever.
Telling someone to kill themselves over a Facebook post? That’s ironic, considering this is coming from the side of the argument which can’t stop shouting “FREE SPEECH!”—however irrelevant to the boycott it may be.
The perfect followup to her previous video, “Why you should go to Chick-Fil-A on August 1st.”
“I protested, both with my vote and with my wallet.” I think a lot of people forget that you aren’t just voting when you’re in the polling booth. As Anna Lappe put it, “Every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want.”
I know this is easier said than done in today’s society, but try not to let organizations use your money for causes you don’t agree with—especially when they are as boastful about it as Chick-fil-a is. Send the message that you don’t agree with what they’re doing, and you won’t empower them to continue doing it.
When gays get so angry about a chicken sandwich, it is because Chick-fil-A has given around $5 million to fight to discriminate against us. When we praise brave Eagle Scouts who give up their badges in protest of the Boy Scouts of America’s prejudice, it’s not about scoring political points; it’s because there are kids in dens who are being taught to believe that they are less than equal. When we rant about the pastor who preaches that gays should be thrown into a concentration camp, we scream out of fear.
And our fears are justified — in the last seven days, a lesbian in Nebraska was carved with a knife, a gay man in Oklahoma was firebombed, and a girl in Kentucky was kicked and beaten — her jaw broken and her teeth knocked out — while her assailants allegedly hurled anti-gay slurs at her.
So no, it’s not just about a chicken sandwich.
Say What Now of the Day: Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, went on an anti-President Obama rant earlier this month during a sermon. Then he got off topic:
I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers. Build a great, big, large fence — 150- or 100-mile-long — put all the lesbians in there… Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out… And you know what, in a few years, they’ll die.
He ended his sermon with this thought:
God have mercy. It makes me pukin’ sick to think about — I don’t even whether or not to say this in the pulpit — can you imagine kissing some man?
Notice the “Amens” from the congregation throughout. [towleroad]
I really wanted this to make me angry, because anger can often feel empowering, but it just made me incredibly sad. I don’t know if you can ever change the minds of people like this, and people will continue to think this way so long as people like that man continue to have a soapbox to preach upon.
this guy… (Taken with instagram)
Meet my good friend Zachary. I have known him since he was in kindergarten. Now he is one of the sweetest, funniest, most compassionate, brave, and badass tweens I know. And I know a lot of tweens.
There are not a lot of kids out there like him. He is a champ. Panda idolizes him. He is so sweet to her. He is an awesome role model.
Well, here’s the deal:
Zachary’s rights are at risk because Zachary lives in North Carolina with his mom Michelle and his other mom Melissa.
Take a minute. Look at that kid. Look at him real good. He is not a threat to you or anyone. He is the opposite. He is a shining light. He is beautiful. He deserves what we all deserve.
Equally.
I beg of you people of North Carolina get out and vote NO on Amendment 1. Even if you don’t vote for anything else. Please help protect the families.
Please help protect my bud.
Thanks.
